Sarah Ater supported the seminar management already during the pilot project in December 2003. Due to her specialist knowledge of environmental education and detailed knowledge of the Kenyan educational system she soon became an essential partner. Together with Kathrin Futter, she carried out the first school visits in February, 2004 and led another seminar in December, 2004. Since that time, she is the program manager and coordinates annual seminars. In between she supports the teachers carrying out environmental projects in the schools, organizes excursions for the students, helps establish school networks and collaborates with other supporters of the program called now the "Environmental Education Initiative".
